This year’s international film festival Asterfest will take place from 25th to 29th May in Strumica, under the motto “Odyssey 2012”. The opening ceremony will be at NUCK “Anton Panov”. Apart from that location, the main events will also take place in the summer Amphitheater and Veljusa. Selectors are already designing the program content that will comprise of competing creative documentaries, short films and animated films. This year, the Movieland category will focus on Russia and its short films. A novelty in the official program will be the establishment of the award for best screenplay, called “Gjorgji Abadziev”, and there will also be a workshop on film script writing. Laureates of the eighth edition of Asterfest are Vladimir Blazhevski and Slavko Shtimac who will receive honorary awards at the opening ceremony on 25th. The Aster portrait and the Tiberiopolian film talks dedicated to their work will take place the following day in the courtyard of the Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos Eleusa in Veljusa.
